Formulas and Key Relations

Speed and Velocity

Speed = Distance / Time → v = s/t

Average Speed = Total Distance / Total Time

Average Velocity = (u + v) / 2

Velocity = Displacement / Time

Acceleration

a = (v - u) / t

Equations of Motion (Uniform Acceleration)

v = u + at [First Equation]

s = ut + ½at² [Second Equation]

v² = u² + 2as [Third Equation]

2.1 Speed with Direction - Velocity

Average velocity = (Initial velocity + Final velocity) ÷ 2 (for uniform acceleration)

Acceleration = Change in velocity / Time = (v − u) / t

Key relations

Speed is the distance covered per unit time (v = s/t).

Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity (a = (v-u)/t).
