SSC MTS & Havaldar salary table
SSC MTS recruits Multi-Tasking Staff (a Group C non-gazetted post) across central government offices, plus the Havaldar post in the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) and Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN). MTS is at the base of the pay matrix; Havaldar is one level up.

Basic pay is the fixed 7th CPC entry cell. In-hand = basic + Dearness Allowance (60% from 1 January 2026) + HRA + Transport Allowance (with DA on it) − NPS (10% of basic + DA) − CGHS, before income tax. The lower figure is a Z-class town (HRA 10%), the higher an X-class metro (HRA 30%).

- Dearness Allowance — 60% of basic from January 2026.
- House Rent Allowance — 30% / 20% / 10% by city class.

Promotions and growth
MTS staff earn regular increments (3% a year) and are eligible for promotion to Lower Division Clerk and higher clerical grades over time, moving up pay levels. The Havaldar cadre in CBIC has its own promotion channel. Many candidates treat MTS as an entry point and continue preparing for SSC CHSL and SSC CGL.
