The ending is also satisfying because it shows that the boys finally act according to their family’s value of honesty.

The boys kept the horse for some time, but in the end they returned it because they belonged to the Garoghlanian family, which was famous for its honesty. The horse must go back to its true owner.” This shows they returned it because they felt it would be wrong to keep it, not because they were afraid.
