When the last of the guests left, I went back into the hall and stopped in surprise. The room was in a mess. Empty cups stood on the tables, flowers had fallen from the vase, and a few shiny wrappers lay on the floor. But what caught my eye was a small envelope near the sofa.

I picked it up carefully. My name was written on it in neat handwriting. Inside was a note from my grandfather, who had attended the family gathering earlier in the evening. He had written that he had hidden a gift for me somewhere in the house as a test of observation. I smiled and began to search.

After looking under the table, behind the curtains, and near the bookshelf, I finally found a small wooden box on the shelf in the hall. Inside it was a watch that had belonged to my father when he was young. Grandfather had also left a message: “Keep it safe. Some memories are more precious than gold.”

I held the watch in my hand and felt deeply touched. The noisy party was over, but the hall had given me a quiet and unforgettable memory.
