Formulas and Key Relations
2) Circle
(x - h)^2 + (y - k)^2 = r^2
x^2 + y^2 = r^2
3) Parabola
y^2 = 4ax
y^2 = -4ax
x^2 = 4ay
x^2 = -4ay
Length of latus rectum = 4a
4) Ellipse
x^2/a^2 + y^2/b^2 = 1
x^2/b^2 + y^2/a^2 = 1
a^2 = b^2 + c^2
c = sqrt(a^2 - b^2)
e = c/a
Circle
The equation of a circle with centre (h, k) and radius r is (x - h)^2 + (y - k)^2 = r^2.
For centre at the origin, the equation is x^2 + y^2 = r^2.
