  • श्रीकृष्णः युद्धपराङ्मुखं अर्जुनं कर्तव्यपालनार्थम् उपदिशति स्म।

प्रथमश्लोकः — स्थितप्रज्ञलक्षणम्

  • दुःखेषु अनुद्विग्नमनाः, सुखेषु विगतस्पृहः, वीतरागभयक्रोधः इति लक्षणानि अत्र दृश्यन्ते।
  • यः इच्छा, आसक्तिः, भयः, क्रोधः इत्येतेभ्यः मुक्तः भवति सः स्थितप्रज्ञः भवति।
  • स्थितधीः मुनिः इत्यस्य अर्थः दुःखेषु अनुद्विग्नः, सुखेषु निस्पृहः, राग-भय-क्रोध-रहितः पुरुषः।

द्वितीयश्लोकः — क्रोधस्य विनाशपरम्परा

  • क्रोधात् सम्मोहः भवति।
  • सम्मोहात् स्मृतिविभ्रमः भवति।
  • स्मृतिभ्रंशात् बुद्धिनाशः भवति।

तृतीयश्लोकः — गुरोः समीपे ज्ञानप्राप्तिः

  • गुरोः समीपं गत्वा ज्ञानं प्राप्तव्यम्।
  • प्रणिपातेन, परिप्रश्नेन, सेवया च ज्ञानलाभः भवति।
  • विनीतः जिज्ञासुः च भूत्वा सेवां कृत्वा यथार्थज्ञानं प्राप्तव्यम्।
