Multiplication of Integers
Positive × Positive = Positive. Example: 4 × 5 = 20.
Positive × Negative = Negative. Example: 3 × (–5) = –15.
Negative × Positive = Negative. Example: (–4) × 7 = –28.
Properties of Multiplication of Integers
Multiplication is commutative for integers
a × b = b × a.
Multiplication is associative for integers
(a × b) × c = a × (b × c).
Division of Integers
Positive ÷ Negative = Negative. Example: 72 ÷ (–8) = –9.
Negative ÷ Positive = Negative. Example: (–20) ÷ 5 = –4.
