Multiplication of a Fraction by a Whole Number
- To multiply a fraction by a whole number, multiply the whole number with the numerator of the fraction, keeping the denominator the same.
- Formula: n × (a/b) = (n × a) / b
- Example: 3 × (2/7) = (3 × 2) / 7 = 6/7

Multiplication of a Fraction by a Fraction
- To multiply two fractions, multiply the numerators together and the denominators together.
- Formula: (a/b) × (c/d) = (a × c) / (b × d)

Division of Fractions – Reciprocals
- The reciprocal of a fraction is obtained by swapping (inverting) the numerator and denominator.

Multiplication of Decimal Numbers
- To multiply two decimal numbers: (1) Multiply them as whole numbers ignoring the decimal point. (2) Count the total number of digits to the right of decimal points in BOTH numbers. (3) Place the decim
- Example: 1.2 × 2.5 → 12 × 25 = 300; total decimal places = 1 + 1 = 2; answer = 3.00 = 3
- Example: 2.5 × 1.25 → 25 × 125 = 3125; decimal places = 1 + 2 = 3; answer = 3.125
