  • The unit of Indian money is Rupee (₹) and Paise (p).

  • When there is no paise, we say only rupees (e.g., ₹389 = Three hundred eighty-nine rupees).
  • To write in numbers: 'Five rupees and fifty paise' = ₹5.50.

  • Always add or subtract paise first, then rupees.
  • If paise add up to 100 or more, convert 100 paise to ₹1 and carry it over.
  • When subtracting, if paise in the smaller number are more, borrow ₹1 (which is 100 paise).
