- The unit of Indian money is Rupee (₹) and Paise (p).
Writing Money in Words and Numbers
- Amounts like ₹6.50 are written as 'Six rupees and fifty paise'.
- When there is no paise, we say only rupees (e.g., ₹389 = Three hundred eighty-nine rupees).
- To write in numbers: 'Five rupees and fifty paise' = ₹5.50.
Addition and Subtraction of Money
- Always add or subtract paise first, then rupees.
- If paise add up to 100 or more, convert 100 paise to ₹1 and carry it over.
- When subtracting, if paise in the smaller number are more, borrow ₹1 (which is 100 paise).
