A: Living things are things that are alive. They can move, grow, breathe, feel, need food and water, and reproduce. Examples: humans, animals, and plants.

A: Non-living things are not alive. They do not grow, breathe, move on their own, or need food and water. Examples: pencil, stone, chair, and bottle.

A: Living things move in different ways. Humans walk, birds fly, fish swim, and earthworms crawl. Plants also move — sunflowers turn toward sunlight and mimosa leaves close when touched.

A: The brain helps us think, feel, remember, and control all parts of our body. It sends and receives messages like a boss!

A: The heart is on the left side of the chest. It pumps blood to all parts of the body.

A: The heart pumps blood throughout the body. Blood carries oxygen and food to all body parts.

A: Birds have feathers to help them fly, stay warm, and look beautiful. Flight feathers help in flying, down feathers keep them warm, and body feathers give shape and color.

A: 1. Flight feathers – long and flat on wings and tail for flying. 2. Body feathers – cover the body and give color. 3. Down feathers – soft and fluffy under the wings to keep the bird warm.

A: Birds have hollow bones which make their bodies light. A light body helps them fly easily through the air.
