3. Land and Ground Robots

  • UGVs are land-based robotic systems used for tasks such as military surveillance, EOD, precision agriculture, cargo delivery, and mining.
  • Wheeled robots, tracked robots, and legged robots are the three main types of land-based robots.
  • Wheeled robots are simple to design, simple to install, and practical for robots that need to move quickly.

  • Underwater robots are used for inspection, maintenance, EOD, anti-submarine warfare, mine countermeasures, and environmental monitoring.
  • An AUV travels underwater without constant operator input.
  • ROVs are used when human diving is impractical or dangerous.
