  • Lakhudiyar rock shelters are on the banks of the River Suyal, about twenty kilometres on the Almora-Barechina road in Uttarakhand.
  • Lakhudiyar literally means one lakh caves.
  • The paintings at Lakhudiyar are divided into three categories: man, animal, and geometric patterns.

4. Bhimbetka Rock Shelter Site

  • Bhimbetka is located forty-five kilometres south of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.
  • It covers an area of ten square kilometres.
  • It has about eight hundred rock shelters, and five hundred of them bear paintings.
