भारतीयसंस्कृतौ अतिथीनां महत्त्वं महान् अस्ति। ‘अतिथिदेवो भव’ इति उपनिषदः वचनम् अतिथिसेवायाः आदरं बोधयति। अस्माकं संस्कृतौ मनुष्याः एव न, अपि तु अन्ये प्राणिनः अपि अतिथिरूपेण प्रीतिपात्राणि भवन्ति। अस्य प्रसङ्गस्य केन्द्रे राधिका, तस्याः पितामही, तथा मार्जारी चतस्रः शावकाः च सन्ति।
