1. Locker Puzzle and Square Numbers
- A locker toggled an odd number of times ends up open; otherwise it ends up closed.
- The number of times a locker is toggled equals the number of factors of the locker number.
- Every factor of a number has a partner factor whose product with it gives the number.
2. Properties of Perfect Squares
- The squares of natural numbers are called perfect squares.
- Perfect squares include 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, and so on.
- Squares can have units digits 0, 1, 4, 5, 6, or 9 only, never 2, 3, 7, or 8.
3. Pattern of Squares from Odd Numbers
- The difference between consecutive squares forms the sequence of odd numbers.
- The sum of the first n odd numbers equals n squared.
- Every square is a sum of successive odd numbers starting from 1.
4. Cubes and Cube Numbers
- A cube is a solid figure all of whose sides meet at right angles and are equal.
- Cube numbers are formed by multiplying a number by itself three times.
- Squares and cubes can be computed for fractions, decimals, and negative numbers.
