Key Topics to Revise

1

Understanding the BODMAS Rule

  • BODMAS is an acronym that helps us remember the correct order of operations in math.
  • It stands for: Brackets, Of, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction.
  • We must follow this order strictly to get the correct answer.
2

Order of Operations with Brackets

  • Brackets must be simplified first, no matter what operation is inside.
  • There are different types of brackets: ( ) → { } → [ ], and they are solved from the innermost to the outermost.
  • Bar bracket (—) is solved first if present, even before common brackets.
3

The 'Of' Operation

  • The word 'of' in math means multiplication, but it is done before division and multiplication in BODMAS.
  • It is often used with fractions, like 1/2 of 10 = 5.
