  • Latitudes are imaginary horizontal lines that run from east to west.

  • The grid helps us find the exact location of a place on Earth.
  • To locate a place, we need both its latitude and longitude. For example, 26°N, 88°E.

  • The Earth rotates from west to east, so places east of the Prime Meridian see the sun first.
  • Each longitude has a time difference of 4 minutes from the next.
  • Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is the time at 0° longitude and is used as a reference.
