  • The renal excretory system consists of a pair of kidneys, two ureters, a urinary bladder, and a urethra.

  • The medulla drains urine into a funnel-shaped structure called the renal pelvis.

  • Blood enters the kidney through the renal artery.
  • The nephrons filter the blood, remove waste substances, and produce urine.
  • Waste substances removed include excess water, mineral salts, and urea.
