Revision of Surface Area and Volume of Solid Figures

  • Cuboid, cube, cylinder, cone, sphere, and hemisphere are the main solid figures to revise.
  • For every solid figure, identify the correct dimensions before applying the formula.

Frustum of a Cone and Sphere Volume Derivation

  • When a cone is cut parallel to its base, two figures are obtained: a cone and a frustum.
  • The shape of a glass used to drink water and the water it contains are examples of frustum of a cone.
  • A frustum is not a cone itself.

Sector of a Circle and Arc Length

  • A circle is divided into sectors by the central angle.
  • The central angle of a circle equals 360°, which is a complete angle.
  • A sector is the part enclosed by two radii and the arc joining their end points.

Segment of a Circle

  • A segment is the region bounded by a chord and its corresponding arc.
  • Minor segment is the area enclosed by a chord and its corresponding minor arc.
  • Major segment is the area enclosed by a chord and its corresponding major arc.
