3.1 Thrust and Pressure
- Thrust is the force acting perpendicular to a surface. Unit: Newton (N)
- Pressure is thrust per unit area acting on a surface. Unit: Pascal (Pa) or N/m²
- Same force on smaller area produces higher pressure than on larger area

3.2 Pressure in Fluids
- Fluids include both liquids and gases - all flowing substances
- Fluid molecules in constant motion move equally in all directions
- Fluid pressure acts in all directions: upward, downward, and sideways

- Pascal's Law: External pressure on incompressible liquid transmitted uniformly throughout liquid
- Pressure transmits equally in all directions in confined liquid
- Demonstrated by syringe with holes - water squirts equally from all holes
