Let Us Do — My Hand
1Place one palm in the centre of the box. With your other hand, draw an outline. Decorate the hand with colours, coloured paper bits, bindis or anything else. Now compare your drawing with your friend's drawing.Show solution
1. Place your left palm flat in the centre of the box (or your right palm if you prefer).
2. Hold a pencil in your other hand and carefully draw around all five fingers and the outline of your palm.
3. Lift your hand — you will see the outline of your hand on the paper.
4. Decorate the outline using crayons, coloured paper bits, bindis, stickers, or any craft material you like.
5. After decorating, look at your friend's hand drawing and compare:
- Are the hands the same size?
- Are the fingers the same length?
- How is the decoration different?
Observation: Every child's hand is unique — some hands are bigger, some smaller, and everyone decorates differently. This shows that all of us are special!
Let Us Do — Washing Hands
1Look at the four steps shown for washing hands and follow them in order: (1) Open the tap or pour water on your hands. (2) Rub soap on your hands. (3) Wash between the fingers. (4) Rinse your hands again.Show solution
Step 1: Open the tap or pour water on your hands so they are wet.
Step 2: Take soap and rub it all over your hands — on the front, the back, and the fingers.
Step 3: Wash carefully between the fingers to remove all dirt and germs.
Step 4: Rinse your hands again under clean water until all the soap is gone. Then dry your hands with a clean towel.
Why is this important? Washing hands properly keeps germs away and helps us stay healthy. We should wash our hands before eating, after playing, and after using the toilet.
Let Us Write — Alphabet Song and Writing Letters
AWrite the letters: Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee FfShow solution
- Aa — Capital A: Start at the top, draw two slanting lines meeting at a point, add a horizontal line in the middle. Small a: A round shape with a small tail on the right.
- Bb — Capital B: Draw a straight vertical line, then add two bumps on the right side. Small b: Draw a straight line down, then add a round bump on the right at the bottom.
- Cc — Capital C: Draw a big open curve facing right. Small c: Draw a smaller open curve facing right.
- Dd — Capital D: Draw a straight vertical line, then add one big bump on the right. Small d: Draw a round circle, then a tall straight line going up on the right.
- Ee — Capital E: Draw a straight vertical line, then add three horizontal lines (top, middle, bottom). Small e: Draw a horizontal line, then curve around it leaving an opening on the right.
- Ff — Capital F: Draw a straight vertical line, then add two horizontal lines (top and middle only). Small f: Draw a curved top line, a straight line down, and a small horizontal line in the middle.
Tip: Practise each letter several times on the lines provided, making sure capital and small letters are the correct size.

Let Us Speak — Find the Odd One Out
1Notice the initial sounds of the words in each row. Find the odd one out. (The question refers to pictures in each row where three pictures begin with the same sound and one does not.)Show solution
How to solve (general method for all rows):
1. Say the name of each picture clearly.
2. Listen to the very first sound of each word.
3. Find the three words that share the same starting sound.
4. The picture whose name starts with a different sound is the odd one out. Circle or mark that picture.
Example:
- If the pictures are: cat, cap, dog, cup → The odd one out is dog because cat, cap, and cup all start with /k/, but dog starts with /d/.
*(Note: The specific pictures in the rows cannot be seen from the OCR. Apply the above method to each row using the pictures in your book.)*
Remember: Practise this exercise regularly to become good at hearing beginning sounds of words.
