1. Numbers Can Tell Us Things

  • A number can represent information, not only a count.
  • In the children-in-a-line puzzle, each child says the number of taller neighbours.
  • A child says 1 if only one taller child stands next to them.

  • A cell is coloured if the number in it is larger than its adjacent cells.
  • In a single row, neighbours are the cells immediately to the left and right.
  • In a multi-row table, neighbours are the cells immediately to the left, right, top, and bottom.
