Key Topics to Revise
1. Rotation of the Earth

- The Earth's axis passes through the geographic North Pole and South Pole.
- Viewed from above the North Pole, the Earth rotates anti-clockwise, which means West to East.
2. Revolution of the Earth and Orbit
- Revolution means the motion of an object around another object.
- The path taken during revolution is called an orbit.
- Earth revolves around the Sun in about 365 days and 6 hours.
3. Seasons on the Earth
- The Earth's axis is tilted, not upright, with respect to its orbit.
- The tilt of the Earth's axis and the spherical shape of the Earth give rise to seasons.
- In June, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun and the Southern Hemisphere is tilted away.
4. Eclipses
- A solar eclipse happens when the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth and blocks sunlight from reaching Earth.
- Mercury and Venus can pass between Earth and the Sun, but they are too small in apparent size to block the Sun completely.
