  • An electric cell is a portable source of electrical energy.
  • An electric cell has two terminals: positive and negative.
  • The positive terminal is the metal cap, which is protruding.

  • An electrical circuit is a complete path for electric current to flow through the lamp.
  • The direction of electric current in a circuit is taken from the positive terminal to the negative terminal of the cell.

  • A circuit diagram is a representation of an electrical circuit using symbols.
  • Symbols make circuits easier to draw and understand.
  • In the symbol for an electric cell, the long line represents the positive terminal and the short line represents the negative terminal.
