- Metals are generally hard, lustrous, malleable, ductile, and sonorous.
- The property of being beaten into thin sheets is called malleability.
- Gold and silver are the most malleable metals.
3. Important Properties of Non-metals
- Non-metals are usually soft, dull, brittle, and poor conductors of heat and electricity.
- Non-metals are neither malleable nor ductile.
- Non-metals are not sonorous.
4. Behaviour of Metals and Non-metals with Heat, Electricity, Air, and Water
- Metals are good conductors of heat, while wood is a poor conductor of heat.
- Metals such as aluminium, iron, and copper are good conductors of electricity.
- Sulfur, coal, wood, stone, eraser, and nylon rope are poor conductors of electricity.
