  • युगानां आरम्भे नाभिनामकः महाराजः आसीत्। सः राजनीतौ, युद्धतन्त्रे, प्रशासनादिषु च समर्थः आसीत्।
  • तस्य पत्नी मरुदेवी बुद्धिमती करुणाशालिनी च आसीत्। तयोः प्रियपुत्रः ऋषभः आसीत्।
  • ऋषभः सर्वगुणसम्पन्नः, अधीतविद्यः, राजनीतिज्ञः च आसीत्।

ऋषभदेवस्य वैराग्यं, भिक्षाटनं, तपश्चर्या च

  • एकदा राजप्रासादे नृत्यकलाप्रदर्शनकाले काचित् नर्तकी सहसा भूमौ पतित्वा मृता।
  • अनेन घटनया ऋषभदेवस्य मनः विशुद्धम् अभवत्, वैराग्यं च उदपतत्।
  • तदा सः विशालं साम्राज्यं स्वपुत्रेषु विभक्तवान्।

  • ऋषभदेवः फाल्गुनमासस्य कृष्णपक्षे एकादश्यां तिथौ प्रयागराजे अक्षयवटवृक्षस्य अधः केवलज्ञानं प्राप्तवान्।
  • केवलज्ञानप्राप्त्युत्तरं सः जैनसम्प्रदाये आदिमः तीर्थङ्करः आदिनाथः इति ख्यातः।
