  • People are divided into poor and non-poor, but there are different types within each group.
  • Chronic or structural poor include always poor and usually poor.
  • Transient or temporarily poor include churning poor and occasionally poor.

  • Nurkse explained poverty through the idea of the vicious circle of poverty.
