  • The water cycle is the continuous movement of water between the Earth and the atmosphere.
  • Steps: Evaporation → Condensation → Cloud formation → Rain or snow → Collection in rivers, lakes, oceans.

  • Water from rivers, lakes, and ponds has impurities and is not safe to drink directly.
  • Impurities can be soluble (dissolve in water) or insoluble (do not dissolve).

  • Water must be purified before drinking to remove dirt and kill germs.
  • Common methods: Boiling, Chlorination, and Water Purifiers.
  • Boiling kills germs by heating water for 5–10 minutes.
