The skull protects the brain. It is made up of 22 bones, most of which are fixed in place.
What is the function of the ribcage?

The ribcage protects the heart and lungs. It is made of 12 pairs of curved bones attached to the backbone and the sternum.
What are floating ribs?
Answer
The last two pairs of ribs are not attached to the sternum at the front. These are called floating ribs because they are only attached at the back.
How many vertebrae make up the backbone?
Answer
The backbone is made up of 33 small bones called vertebrae. These protect the spinal cord.
What is the longest bone in the human body?

The femur, or thigh bone, is the longest and strongest bone in the body. It supports the weight of the body during movement.
