Kinetic Theory and Particle Motion

  • Particles of matter are always in random motion.
  • Particles possess kinetic energy.

Interparticle Space and Force of Attraction

  • Particles of matter have spaces or gaps between them called interparticle or intermolecular spaces.
  • There is a force of attraction between particles of matter called interparticle or intermolecular force of attraction.
  • In solids, intermolecular space is almost negligible and force of attraction is strong.
