2. Bohr’s Model and Sommerfeld’s Modification

  • Bohr was a Danish physicist and received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922.

  • The distribution of electrons in shells, sub-shells, and orbitals is called electronic configuration.
  • The shorthand notation is nl^x.
  • In this notation, n is the shell number, l is the sub-shell letter, and x is the number of electrons.
