A Show of Clouds

(This is a speaking activity. Sample answer a child may give:)
When I sat outside and watched the sky, I saw big, white, fluffy clouds moving slowly. Some clouds looked like animals. One cloud looked like a rabbit and another looked like a big elephant. The clouds kept changing their shapes as the wind blew them across the sky.

Clouds can be the following colours:
- White (on a sunny day)
- Grey (before it rains)
- Dark grey / Black (during a storm)
- Orange / Pink / Red (at sunrise or sunset)

Note: Accept any of these colours. If a child says 'red', they may be thinking of clouds at sunset, which is correct.

When I look up, I see white clouds floating in the blue sky.

When I look down, I see green grass and small stones on the ground.

When I close my eyes, I see darkness and colourful shapes.

Given: The poem 'A Show of Clouds' describes shapes the child sees in the clouds.

Answer:
The child could see a bear and other animal shapes in the clouds.

(Complete sentence: The child could see a bear in the clouds.)

Three things we can see in the sky during the day:

1. I see the bright Sun shining in the sky.
2. I see white, fluffy clouds floating by.
3. I see birds flying high up in the sky.

Things we can see in the sky at night:

1. I see the glowing Moon in the night sky.
2. I see many tiny, twinkling stars spread across the sky.

Listening and Speaking Activity:

Repeat each word clearly after the teacher:
- back, pack, Jack, rack — these words end in the -ack sound.
- pick, tick, flick, thick — these words end in the -ick sound.
- pluck, duck, muck, truck — these words end in the -uck sound.

Common sound in ALL these words:
The sound 'ck' (pronounced as /k/) is common in all these words.

All the words end with the letters 'ck', which together make a single /k/ sound.
