1. Comparing fractions from different wholes

  • Fractions can be compared only when the wholes are the same.
  • A fraction of one chocolate cannot be compared directly with the same fraction of a different-sized chocolate if the chocolates are not the same size.

  • Equivalent fractions represent the same part of a whole but have different names.
