Key Topics to Revise

1

1. Congruent Figures

  • Figures with the same shape and size are congruent.
  • Congruent figures can be superimposed exactly.
  • A figure may be rotated or flipped before superimposing.
2

2. Congruence of Triangles by SSS

  • If two triangles have the same three side lengths, they are congruent.
  • This is called the SSS condition, which stands for Side Side Side.
  • In the construction idea, a triangle with sides 4 cm, 6 cm, and 8 cm can be formed in more than one position, but all such triangles are congruent.
3

3. Writing Triangle Congruence Correctly

  • If triangle ABC is congruent to triangle XYZ, then A matches X, B matches Y, and C matches Z.
  • The matching sides are AB with XY, BC with YZ, and AC with XZ.
  • The matching angles are angle A with angle X, angle B with angle Y, and angle C with angle Z.
4

4. Other Triangle Congruence Conditions

  • SAS means Side Angle Side: two sides and the included angle are equal.
  • ASA means Angle Side Angle: two angles and the included side are equal.
  • AAS means Angle Angle Side: two angles and a non-included side are equal.
