  • Metals are generally hard, lustrous, malleable, ductile, and sonorous.
  • The property of being beaten into thin sheets is called malleability.

  • Non-metals are usually soft, dull, brittle, and poor conductors of heat and electricity.
  • Non-metals are neither malleable nor ductile.
  • Non-metals are not sonorous.

  • Metals are good conductors of heat, while wood is a poor conductor of heat.
  • Metals such as aluminium, iron, and copper are good conductors of electricity.
  • Sulfur, coal, wood, stone, eraser, and nylon rope are poor conductors of electricity.
