  • When two powers have the same base, division can be simplified by subtracting the exponents.

  • For a non-zero base, x^0 = 1.

4. Powers of 10 and Expanded Form

  • 47561 can be expanded as (4 × 10^4) + (7 × 10^3) + (5 × 10^2) + (6 × 10^1) + (1 × 10^0).
  • 561.903 can be expanded using positive and negative powers of 10.
  • Any number can be written as the product of a number between 1 and 10 and a power of 10.
