Order of Adjectives
- When multiple adjectives describe a noun, they follow a specific order
- The standard order is: Number → Opinion → Size → Age → Shape → Colour → Origin → Material → Purpose → Noun
- Example: 'Two beautiful small old round white Indian wooden serving spoons'
Degrees of Comparison
- Positive Degree: Basic form of adjective (tall, beautiful, good)
- Comparative Degree: Compares two things using 'than' (taller, more beautiful, better)
- Superlative Degree: Compares more than two things using 'the' (tallest, most beautiful, best)
Easily Confused Adjectives
- Elder/Eldest vs Older/Oldest: Elder/eldest for family members only, older/oldest for everything
- Later/Latest vs Latter/Last: Later/latest for time, latter/last for position
- Farther/Further: Both for distance, but further also means 'additional'
Transforming Between Degrees
- Same meaning can be expressed using different degrees
- Positive to Comparative: 'as...as' becomes 'more/less...than'
- Comparative to Superlative: 'than any other' becomes 'the most/least'
