What to Focus On
- Circle: all points at a constant distance from a fixed point
- Centre is the fixed point and radius is the constant distance
- Radius of a circle is always positive
- Arc angle at centre is double the angle at the circle
- Angles in the same segment are equal
- Angle in a semicircle is 90°
- Cyclic quadrilateral has all vertices on one circle
- Opposite angles are supplementary
- If opposite angles add to 180°, the quadrilateral is cyclic
Common Mistakes to Avoid
A tangent touches a circle and may pass through it at two points if drawn close to the circle.
If a line is perpendicular to a radius, it is just a normal line and not necessarily a tangent.
From one external point, only one tangent can be drawn to a circle.
Memory Tips
Definition of a circle
Centre and radius

Angle subtended by an arc at the centre is double the angle at the remaining circle
