What to Focus On

  • Circle: all points at a constant distance from a fixed point
  • Centre is the fixed point and radius is the constant distance
  • Radius of a circle is always positive

  • Arc angle at centre is double the angle at the circle
  • Angles in the same segment are equal
  • Angle in a semicircle is 90°

  • Cyclic quadrilateral has all vertices on one circle
  • Opposite angles are supplementary
  • If opposite angles add to 180°, the quadrilateral is cyclic

Common Mistakes to Avoid

A tangent touches a circle and may pass through it at two points if drawn close to the circle.

If a line is perpendicular to a radius, it is just a normal line and not necessarily a tangent.

From one external point, only one tangent can be drawn to a circle.
