  • Section formula is used for ratio m:n.
  • The correct order is mx2 + nx1, not mx1 + nx2.

  • Centroid is the intersection point of the medians.

  • The centroid divides the median in the ratio 2:1 from the vertex.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

The formula for internal division is x = (mx1 + nx2)/(m+n) and y = (my1 + ny2)/(m+n).

The midpoint formula is a separate formula that must be memorised independently, and it is not connected to the section formula.

Internal division and external division are the same thing, so the same formula can be used in both cases.
