Reading Time on a Clock

  • A clock has two hands: the short hand is the hour hand, and the long hand is the minute hand.
  • When the minute hand is at 12, it is 'o'clock'.
  • When the minute hand is at 6, it is 'half past' the hour.

  • a.m. means from 12 midnight to 12 noon (morning time).
  • p.m. means from 12 noon to 12 midnight (afternoon and night time).
  • 8 a.m. is 8 in the morning, while 8 p.m. is 8 in the evening.

24-Hour Clock

  • The 24-hour clock counts from 00:00 (midnight) to 23:59.
  • From 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., add 12 to the 12-hour time to get 24-hour time.
  • a.m. times from 1 to 11 remain the same in 24-hour format (e.g., 7 a.m. = 07:00).
