Telling Time Correct to the Nearest Minute
- A clock has two hands: the shorter hour hand and the longer minute hand.
- The minute hand moves from one number to the next in 5 minutes.
- There are 60 minutes in 1 hour.
Conversions of Time
- 60 seconds = 1 minute
- 60 minutes = 1 hour
- 24 hours = 1 day
Operations on Time Measures
- We can add and subtract time just like numbers, but with carrying and borrowing across units.
- When adding seconds, if total ≥ 60, convert to minutes and carry over.
- When adding minutes, if total ≥ 60, convert to hours and carry over.
Calendar
- A calendar shows days, weeks, and months of a year.
- There are 12 months in a year.
- Each month has 30 or 31 days, except February.
