  • 1 is a factor of every number.
  • Every number is a factor of itself.

2. Prime and Composite Numbers

  • Prime numbers have exactly two factors: 1 and the number itself.
  • Composite numbers have more than two factors.
  • 1 is neither prime nor composite — it has only one factor.

3. Prime Factors

  • Prime factors are factors that are also prime numbers.
  • Every composite number can be written as a product of prime factors.
  • Two methods: Factor Tree and Prime Factorization.

4. Multiples

  • A multiple is the product of a number and any counting number (1, 2, 3, ...).
  • Every number is a multiple of itself and 1.
  • 0 is a multiple of every number.
