  • Face value is the value of the digit itself.
  • Place value depends on the position of the digit in the number.
  • Place value = digit × place (like 1000, 100, 10, etc.).

  • More digits means a larger number.
  • If digits are equal, compare from left to right.
  • The first differing digit decides the greater number.

  • A number cannot start with 0.
  • For smallest number with 0, place the smallest non-zero digit first.
  • For greatest number, place digits in descending order.

Zero has no place value, so it doesn’t affect the number.

The face value and place value of a digit are the same.

When forming the smallest number from digits including 0, we start with 0.
