1. Ways to Express Future Time
- Future time can be shown by will/shall, going to, present continuous, simple present, be + infinitive, future continuous, future perfect, and future perfect continuous.
- Be + infinitive is a valid future form, but it is not used very often.
- Will/shall is used for simple future meaning.
2. Will/Shall: Form and Uses
- Will/shall is formed with will/shall + root form of the verb.
- Normally will is used with all persons.
- Shall may be used with first person, but it is not common.
3. Going to, Present Continuous, and Simple Present for Future
- Going to is formed with is/are/am + going to + root form of the verb.
- Going to suggests someone's intention to do something in the near future.
- Going to is also used to make predictions about the future when there are clear signs in the present.
