  • The main elements are temperature, atmospheric pressure, prevailing winds, humidity, precipitation, sunshine, and clouds.
  • Temperature is the measure of how hot or cold a place is.
  • Atmospheric pressure is the force exerted by a column of air on the earth's surface.

  • Temperature is the degree of hotness or coldness of air at a place.
  • Temperature is measured with a thermometer.
  • A thermometer is a narrow glass tube filled with a liquid such as mercury or alcohol.

4. Atmospheric Pressure and Barometer

  • Atmospheric pressure is the force exerted by the vertical column of air per unit area.
  • Meteorologists use millibar (mb) as the unit to measure pressure.
  • Atmospheric pressure is measured most accurately with a mercury barometer.
