Quadrilateral Construction

Constructing a quadrilateral means locating its four vertices

A rough free-hand sketch should always be drawn before starting actual construction

A quadrilateral with four sides and one diagonal given is constructed by building triangle ABC then triangle ADC

A quadrilateral with three sides and two diagonals given is constructed by building triangle ABC then triangle ABD, then joining C and D

Parallelogram Construction

AB = DC and BC = AD

OB = 1/2 BD = 1/2 × 5.0 cm = 2.5 cm

OC = 1/2 AC = 1/2 × 5.6 cm = 2.8 cm

OB = OD = 1/2 BD = 1/2 × 4.8 cm = 2.4 cm.

OA = OC = 1/2 AC = 1/2 × 5.4 cm = 2.7 cm

Rectangle Construction

Each angle of a rectangle is 90° and opposite sides are equal

Construction begins with triangle ABC then triangle ADC

A right-angled triangle ABC and another right-angled triangle ADC are used
