- Purandardasa was another great composer of Carnatic music, distinct from the three main composers.

- The Rig Veda mentions dance and danseuse.
- Dance in India can be traced back to the Harappan culture through the bronze statue of a dancing girl.
- Dance is used to express joy and religious ideas.
