  • The Northern Plains are formed by alluvial deposits of the Indus, Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers.
  • From north to south, the plains are divided into Bhabar, Tarai, and alluvial plains.
  • The alluvial plains are further divided into Bhangar and Khadar.
