- Earth is approximately 4600 million years old.

2. The Peninsular Block
- The Peninsular Block is one of the three geological divisions of India.
- It is formed mainly of very ancient gneisses and granites.

- The Himalayas and other Peninsular Mountains are young, weak and flexible in structure.

- From north to south, the plains are divided into Bhabar, Tarai, and alluvial plains.
- The alluvial plains are further divided into Bhangar and Khadar.
