Let us Think

A1Why is it important to focus on doing one thing at a time?Show solution
Given: The poem 'One Thing at a Time' teaches us about the value of focus.

Answer: It is important to focus on doing one thing at a time because when we give our full attention to one task, we do it better and more carefully. If we try to do many things at once, we may make mistakes and nothing gets done properly. As the poem says, 'All that you do, do with all your might; things done by halves are never done right.' Focusing on one task at a time helps us finish it well and feel proud of our work.
A2Make a list of words that rhyme in the poem 'One thing at a time'.Show solution
Given: The poem 'One Thing at a Time' contains several pairs of rhyming words.

The following pairs of words rhyme in the poem:

1. mightright
2. halves – (no direct rhyme given in the excerpt, but in the full poem other pairs exist)

From the lines provided in the exercise:
- 'might' rhymes with 'right'
- 'hill' rhymes with 'still' (from the riddle verse)

Note: Students should read the full poem and list all rhyming pairs. Common rhyming pairs in the poem include: might/right, time/rhyme, day/way, do/you.
A3How do you feel after finishing a task that you have done well?Show solution
Given: This is a personal response question based on the student's own experience.

Sample Answer: After finishing a task that I have done well, I feel very happy, proud, and satisfied. I feel confident and energetic to start the next task. It gives me a sense of achievement and motivates me to work hard again.
A4What are some of the things you do every day that help you stay calm and focused?Show solution
Given: This is a personal response question.

Sample Answer: Some things I do every day that help me stay calm and focused are:
1. I take deep breaths before starting my homework.
2. I do light exercise or yoga in the morning.
3. I keep my study table neat and tidy.
4. I avoid using my phone or watching TV while studying.
5. I drink water and eat healthy food to keep my mind fresh.
BThink and discuss: What do you like doing in your free time?Show solution
Given: This is a discussion-based personal response question.

Sample Answer: In my free time, I like reading storybooks and drawing pictures. I also enjoy playing outdoor games like cricket and badminton with my friends. Sometimes I help my mother in the kitchen or water the plants in our garden. These activities make me feel relaxed and happy.
